Abstract | This report details a program for development of curricula and instructional materials integrating technology into elementary and early secondary education, using an interdisciplinary approach. The work was undertaken in the teacher education program at the University of Manitoba, where teacher trainees created pilot instructional units. The report specifies general objectives in the curriculum areas of natural sciences, mathematics, French, and technology, and principles of the scientific method to be taught (analysis of technological problems and construction and evaluation of prototypes), with illustrations from student work. Substantial appended materials include descriptions of three sample science projects and descriptions of thirteen student teacher-developed projects at various instructional levels.
