Abstract | One of the major focuses of science education reform is providing equal education to all students. One of the first steps in providing an equal education is informing teachers of classroom equity issues. This document is a training module developed to assist grades K-12 teachers in Alaskan schools in transforming their science classroom into a bias-free environment. The document contains the following: (1) a training session overview; (2) a listing of needed equipment; (3) information regarding how students perceive scientists; (4) ways of helping students obtain a positive attitude toward science; (5) a literature review of gender equity issues; (6) science activities; and (7) a listing of notable women in science.
