| Abstract | Intended for young debators, this booklet lists the main events of a debate contest for Japanese college students. The booklet contains transcripts and articles from the debate in which the proposition that the Japanese government should significantly strengthen its policies to protect the Japanese people from foreign nations was debated. The first part of the booklet contains a model debate presenting the affirmative and negative views of the government's role in protecting its people through such means as alien registration legislation and photographing foreign visitors instead of fingerprinting them. The second part contains the final match of the contest in which the affirmative and negative speeches are concerned with protecting Japanese people from foreign epidemic diseases as spread by imported blood components. The third part contains articles relevant to the debate topic, including material on technical plan attacks, disadvantages, and judging philosophies. (EL) |
