AbstractPresented to the first session of the advisory committee on Regional Co-operation in Education in Asia and Oceania, this report summarizes the preparatory studies and reflections on the scope and design of the Asian Programme of Educational Innovation for Development (APEID) future programs, as discussed by a group in Bangkok in April, 1980. Objectives of the study group included: (1) to develop guidelines and methods of operation for the evaluation of the second cycle of APEID; (2) to suggest mechanisms, methods, and approaches to be used for developing the scope and design of the third cycle; and (3) to identify new thrusts and concerns emerging in the region and suggest studies and activities which could be included in the third-cycle work plan of APEID. The report of the meeting, along with modifications, contains the development of guidelines, a discussion on the renewal of institutional mechanisms and methods of work, the preliminary framework of the scope and design of the third cycle, and preparatory activities for elaborating the scope and design of the third cycle. The body of the report contains footnoted comments and observations of the advisory committee. Annexes include the agenda, address of welcome by the Assistant Director-General, list of participants and names of group members. (JD)
