Abstract | Presented is a resource guide designed for use in program planning at the school district level. The course of study provides an overview of the goals and objectives for 19 curriculum areas from kindergarten through twelfth grade in California. Four of these areas are described both separately and as they are infused into other areas. An overview of commonalities among the goals of the 19 curriculum areas is presented. Each curriculum area is defined in terms of goals and objectives and other descriptive material. The descriptive material includes a point of view to provide background information, vignettes, goals, objectives, samples of learner behaviors, and professional associations and their publications. Instructional strategies are suggested in a limited way. Curriculum areas included are art, bilingual-cultural, business, career, consumer, drama/theatre, language arts, environmental, foreign language, health, home economics, industrial arts, mathematics, multicultural, music, physical education, science, social sciences, and traffic safety.
