Abstract | The Board of the State of Florida attempts to discharge their obligations and meet the challenge of the decade by: (1) insuring planning diversity through development of a new master plan called CODE (COmprehensive DEvelopment Plan), follow-up professional studies, and by planning for economy and equality; (2) expanding and improving educational opportunities through new state universities, national recognition for quality, and new students; (3) responding to emerging needs by following the California model, setting new goals for the university, developments in health education, and interinstitutional cooperation; (4) adjusting to available resources by systematic budgeting, restrictions on program efforts to increase productivity, and utilization of other cost saving measures; (5) achieving a sound base for decisions through the role of the chancellor, increasing avenues of communication, and by confronting conflicting aspirations.
