| Abstract | After a short historical overview the main organising theme, research-based approach is presented. The basic level of teacher education consists of everyday teaching practices and is, in principle, possible to adopt with personal experience. The more developed expertise, however, requires a systematic program at the general level of teacher education. Teachers' pedagogical thinking is presented as a means to realise the research-based approach by justifying decisions with well considered arguments that are found in the teacher's own work. Finally, the research-based approach is compared with other common types of: personal school-based, and problem-based. All types of teacher education program may be subsumed into the research-based approach. (DIPF/Orig.). |
