AbstractThis educational material consists of a game structured in the form of an educational kit, aimed at pupils aged 9 to 12. The material is based on a concept formulated to encourage teachers and pupils to acknowledge difference, give it a right to expression and existence, and in a second phase to replace this experience in their own personal /family history. Thus we move from the general to the individual/personal, always supported by the collective, that is the school class. The educational kit is designed for circulation among primary schools via Greek Ministry of National Education. It includes a teacher's animation handbook and various tools (maps, puzzles, photo-cards, etc.). The game spans two days. On the first day, divided in groups, the children play in a region of the world represented by a map and seven objects in the form of photo-cards. They are asked to reconstitute the story of a couple who have recently arrived in that part of the world. The beginning of each story is included in a corresponding handbook. Various types of people are shown as travelling: political and war refugees, immigrants, businessmen, travellers, students, etc. At the end of the first day, the groups exchange their stories and consult documentation cards. The animator asks them to return the next day and to "play" the travels of their own family. The game consists in tracing, on a world map, with the help of coloured threads, the itinerary of their families. (DIPF/ abstract taken from the original).
