Abstract | In April, 2000, more than 1,100 participants from 164 countries gathered in Dakar, Senegal, for the World Education Forum sponsored by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). Participants included teachers, prime ministers, policy makers, executives from non-governmental organizations, and heads of major international organizations. They adopted an ambitious agenda for improving basic education in their respective countries by 2015. Here is a report on progress in Tanzania. (Author). |
