Abstract | This study used PIAAC process data to examine time-related allocation patterns (time for the first action, total time, last action) of low-skilled, relative to higher-skilled, adults on digital literacy items. Results suggest that less-skilled (Level 2) and higher skilled adults (Levels 3-5) exhibited similar time allocation patterns; however, less-skilled adults spent slightly less time overall. The lowest-skilled adults (Level 1 and below) spent significantly less time than other groups (time for the first action and total time). There was a smaller difference between adult skill levels on time for last action. Additionally, two distinct clusters of low-skilled adults differed on literacy performance and ICT practices at work. These findings have implications for improving digital test-taking strategies in adult education programs. (As Provided). |
