Abstract	In this book, a veteran teacher examines a typical day of teaching and reflects on her work with high school students from a variety of cultures, speaking honestly about issues of race, poverty, institutional responsibility, and white privilege by describing her experiences in the classroom. Throughout the day, she encounters bigotry, deals with questions of racial identity, and finds cultural conflict within the school.
