| Abstract | There is a considerable unmet need for the coordination of supportive services for vocational education students. Program effectiveness can be enhanced by means of interagency coordination. In order to unite the Federal, State, and local services resulting from Federal vocational legislation, local coordinators, administrators, and other leaders in education must assume responsibility for developing coordination systems and techniques. Supportive services include guidance and counseling, identification of potential students, job placement and followup, and other activities which meet the needs of vocational education students. A conceptual framework for a supportive services coordination model contains four sequential steps: (1) determining clientele needs, (2) determining what supportive services are available, (3) matching of services to needs, and (4) assessing the overall processes and outcomes in order to improve the procedures and objectives used.
